Join us for two award-winning film screenings made by local artist, Ali Kenner-Brodsky.

"to be near you" (2021) - A poignant dance film exploring the essence of connection and loss. Choreographed and directed by Ali Kenner Brodsky, this film honors the memory of lost loved ones while showcasing the power of physical separation to foster connection.

"between silences" (2018) - Set on Wampanoag land, this evocative dance film delves into themes of isolation and grief. Collaboratively crafted with filmmaker Rich Ferri and composer MorganEve Swain, it portrays a journey through trauma and the search for healing amidst loss.

Ali was recognized with a 2022 Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship in Choreography and was honored to be a part NEFA’S New England Regional Dance Development Initiative 2021/22.

Brodsky has been an artist-in-residence at the Croft: Ground for Art 2019 and the Joyce SoHo 2003/4. She was an Emerging Choreographer in Residence at the Bates Dance Festival in 2016 and was a 2018/19 Catalysts artist at the Dance Complex. She was a 2014 recipient of the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Choreography Fellowship.

In addition, she has received support from NEFA’s New England States Touring and Dance Fund, and from the Arts & Cultural Alliance of Newport County. Ali has designed award-winning choreography for The Wilbury Theatre Group (Providence), and worked as a rehearsal director/dancer with the national touring company Lostwax Multimedia Dance (2012–15).

She graduated with honors in dance from Skidmore College. A Rhode Island native, AKB makes home in Dartmouth, MA with her husband, two children and five chickens.
