ARTISTIC LUMINARIES: THREE LOCAL ICONS

DECEMBER 9 - FEBUARY 23, 2026

For decades, three friends — Willoughby "Bill" Elliott (1943–2016), Severin "Sig" Haines (1946–2023), and Marc St. Pierre (1952–2019)— served as leading figures in the studios and classrooms of the Swain School of Design and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Their collective influence not only established a model of artistic and educational excellence but also significantly shaped the South Coast's creative identity. This legacy continues through successive generations of artists.

NEBULAE: THE UNIVERSE UNVEILED EXPERIENCE THE COSMOS

December 13 - January 30, 2026

The Art Museum annually presents NASA photographs of deep space captured by the Webb and Hubble telescopes from its permanent collection. Selected by Mark Munkacsy, President of the Astronomical Society of Southern New England, these images are more than just breathtaking.

This year we partnered with Tactile Images, an organization that produces sculptures that provide transformative experiences for the visually impaired, offering tactile exploration of visual and graphic materials accompanied by braille text, audio narratives.

2026 UMASS MFA THESIS EXHIBITION

APRIL 9, 2026 – MAY 14, 2026

The UMass Dartmouth MFA Thesis Exhibition is a much-anticipated and celebrated annual event showcasing the artwork of graduating Master of Fine Arts students from the College of Visual and Performing Arts. This year’s exhibition celebrates the work of graduates Alison Bergman, Arghavan Booyeh, Immer Cook, Ali Masoumzadeh, Allison Morones, Maya August Palmer, MITRAAVRS, Sarah Valinezhad, and Yaren Yıldız. The creative work of these graduating students includes painting, drawing, ceramics, digital media, and site-specific installation.
