DAY 1

FREE FILM SCREENING:
Master of Glass: The Art of Dale Chihuly
In this documentary, renowned glassblower Dale Chihuly discusses his history and what excites him about the medium, with additional insights about his life and style from friends, students, and fellow artists.
Seating is limited.
Says Stephanie Stebich, The Margaret and Terry Stent Director of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, who will introduce the film. Stebich oversees the nation’s top collection of American art, exhibitions, research, publications, education, and digital media programs at the museum and its Renwick Gallery. Stebich also serves on the Smithsonian’s Capital Board and the Smithsonian-London Strategic Advisory Board. In May 2018, she was named co-chair of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative.

FEATURED PERFORMANCES
Ballet RI, the premiere dance company in Rhode Island, will debut a performance inspired by Chihuly's sculpture, Luminous Silver.
Through performances, education, and community engagement, Ballet RI reimagines a traditional dance form into a modern-day experience.
The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra's mission is to place the world’s finest music at the center of the cultural life of the South Coast community.
The NBSO enriches the lives of adults and children through the transforming power of great music, performing concerts at the highest level of professional standards, and by providing educational programs.

10AM CHILDREN'S DAY
All Day Glass Art Festival for local school children at the Art Museum. Students will participate in various art workshops throughout the day and participate in discussions about Luminous Silver led by Art Educators.

Hosted by Britt Cornett, Director of Exhibitions, Chihuly Studios with a reception to follow.
